All performers must participate in the dance audition. This includes: performers only interested in ensemble or minor roles (no singing audition required) AND all principal role auditionees.

**If you are only applying for Ensemble, please use coupon code ENSEMBLE since there is no audition fee for Ensemble only.

How to Audition

If you’d like to be considered for a principal role, please prepare the following:

One minute song (Principal Auditions Only): 

  • Prepare and memorize a one-minute cut of a song from a published musical that fits the style of the show. Bring an MP3 accompaniment track—no live accompanist will be provided.

Ensemble/Dance Audition (ALL):

All performers must participate in the dance audition. This includes:

  • Performers only interested in ensemble or minor roles (no singing audition required)

  • All principal auditionees (in addition to their song)

Be sure to wear clothes you can move in and come ready to dance!

Completed audition sign-up form:

  • Complete and submit the audition form by June 6th at 11:59pm. There will be a non-refundable $10 audition fee for principal auditions.  Each performer will receive written feedback from an industry coach following their audition.   

Project Performer Productions 501(c)(3) offers scholarship opportunities for aspiring, performers ages 5-18 with financial need. Meet the Creative Team

Wilfred Paloma, Director

Matt Ignacio, Music Director

Wilfred is a multi-hyphenate theatre artist & is the Director of Education & Community Engagement at Diversionary Theatre. He is an Actor’s Equity member with a M.F.A. in Musical Theatre, a M.A. in Theatre Arts, and a B.A. in Theatre Performance: Acting and Musical Theatre. Wilfred is also a graduate of the Meisner and Chekhov Integrated Acting Studio (MCIT). Wilfred is interdisciplinary Postdoctoral faculty at the University of San Diego in the departments of Theatre and Music.

For over the last 14 years, Wilfred has been a teaching artist working in residency in partnership with La Jolla Playhouse, Arts Education Connection, Imagine Brave Spaces, Coronado Junior Arts League, Young Actors Theater, San Diego Junior Theatre, and Blindspot Collective. Wilfred is also a lecturer at San Diego State University and an adjunct professor at San Diego City College.

Wilfred is a director and choreographer specializing in the development of new works, and has directed over 35 productions. His favorite work fuses social activism and community engagement to his wide array of theatre and dance performance experience. His artistic practice spans Opera, Dance Theatre, Musical Theatre, dramatic works to Theatre for Social Change. Matt is so thrilled to return as Music Director for Project Performer’s production of Shrek Jr! Over the past 10+ years, he has musically directed productions with theatre companies and schools all over San Diego including: Blindspot Collective, Center Stage Productions, JCompany, San Diego Musical Theatre, Teatro San Diego, Tenth Avenue Arts, and Young Actors’ Theatre. Matt’s the artistic director and chorus leader for Tremble Clefs, a singing therapy program for people living with Parkinson’s. He also directs the Glenaires choir at La Costa Glen and serves as music director at St. John of the Cross Church. A San Diego native, Matt performs as a vocalist and musician throughout the county, as a founding member of a cappella groups the San Diego Zoo Explorers and the Seaside Serenaders, as well as with the Tinseltone Carolers. mattignacio.com
